Fishing Holiday
Most resorts and tour operators in Maldives offer a range of exciting fishing excursions to make
your holiday more enjoyable. This is easy as fishing is the primary occupation of many
Maldivians. Choose from half a day of fishing to night fishing, trawling or big game fishing. On a
night fishing adventure, you set off by boat or dhoni after sunset to a reef or shallow nearby and
use baits and sinkers to haul ashore reef fish, small sharks or other varieties. If you would rather
spend a whole day, go for a Maldivian fishing boat just as the local fisher folks do for a living.
Among the most preferred island resorts for a fishing holiday in Maldives are the following:
- Bandos Island Resort
- Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa
- Kuredu Island Resort
- Meeru Island Resort
- Sonevagili Resort & Spa
- Sun Island Resort
- Velavaru Island Reso
Other water sports:
Among the other water sports that you get to enjoy in Maldives are water
skiing, sailing and parasailing. You can use catamarans on hire, while most resorts have courses
and arrangements for parasailing. Also available are a variety of sailing cruises such as diving
safaris, island safaris that let you go around several islands among the atolls. Your resort can
arrange a boat to suit your taste, ranging from those with luxury space to others with basic
amenities.
Please note that Maldives has a stringent policy relating to reef and marine life conservation. Any
violation of the environment would attract severe penalties
